Consolidation Process Speeded Up: Villages Pending for 38 Years Excluded Under Section 6(1)

  • Five villages affected by development plans, river erosion and small landholding area taken out of consolidation
  • Consolidation process completed in five villages under Section 52(1); officials’ efforts praised

Lucknow: Directions have been issued to expedite the completion of consolidation in villages currently under the consolidation process, so that farmers can avail the benefits of schemes being run by the government. The directions were issued by Consolidation Commissioner Dr Hrishikesh Bhaskar Yashod.

The Consolidation Commissioner has ordered that villages where consolidation work could not move forward — despite special efforts to smooth the process — because the village falls under a development plan, is affected by river erosion, has less than 40 percent of its area eligible for consolidation, falls within an industrial development zone, or is affected by factional or group rivalries, be excluded from the consolidation process under Section 6(1) of the Act.

Accordingly, five villages across four districts have been excluded from the consolidation process under Section 6(1) of the Holdings Consolidation Act: village Karhi in Gorakhpur district, under the consolidation process for 38 years; village Daheli in Aligarh district, under process for 7 years; villages Misirmau and Kamas in Pratapgarh district, under process for 2 years; and village Karaina in Bulandshahr district.

In addition, through sustained efforts, the consolidation process was completed under Section 52(1) of the Holdings Consolidation Act in five villages: village Khaprahaa in Jaunpur district, under process for 35 years; villages Vishunpur Kurthiya and Gujarwaliya Shankar Mishra in Maharajganj district, under process for 9 years; village Pedar in Basti district; village Rampur in Sant Kabir Nagar district; and village Gadhiya Kachhpura in Kannauj district. The efforts of district-level officers in the notification of these villages under Section 52(1) have been commended.
